Motion for Leave to Appear Pro Hac Vice

Background:

Effective October 15, 2012, there will be a new process for filing Pro Hac Vice applications. After registering in the Bankruptcy Court as a Pro Hac Vice applicant, completing a Training certification, and paying the applicable fee to the District Court, an attorney may file the application electronically in CM/ECF.

 

Purpose

Use this event to docket Motions for Leave to Appear Pro Hac Vice.

 

Local Rule 2090-3:

Effective October 15, 2012, the court will enter a text only order granting the motion, as long as the fee is paid. A Proposed Order is NOT required.

 

Note: All federal government attorneys are exempt from paying this fee.  

Criteria

Attorneys must complete the following before filing a Motion for Leave to Appear Pro Hac Vice via CM/ECF:

  1. Register for Training in the Bankruptcy Court as a Pro Hac Vice applicant
  2. Complete the training certification assignment for CM/ECF
  3. Pay Fee to the District Court through pay.gov

 

 

 

 

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Select [Bankruptcy or Adversary > Motions/Applications]

     

  2. Enter Case Number and Click Next

     

  3. Verify you are docketing on the correct case

     

  4. Select Pro Hac Vice from pick list

    • Click Next

     

  5. Select Party from party pick list or Add/Create New Party and

    • Click Next

     

  6. The following screen will display :

    REMINDER: Per Local Rule 2090-3, please be sure you have paid the required fee to the Clerk of the District Court before filing this application. You do NOT need to file a proposed order with this event.

    • Click Next

     

     

  7. The PDF document screen will display:

    Court Users, Please Verify Filed Date

    • Attach

    • Click Next

  8. The following message will display:

    If filing this motion for an attorney other than yourself, enter name of attorney requesting to appear Pro Hac Vice

    • When applicable, type in the attorney's name or leave blank

    • Click Next

     

  9. The Modify Text screen will display:

    • If applicable, you may make a selection from one or both of the prefix dropdown boxes

    • Click Next

     

  10. The Final Text screen will display

    • Verify the accuracy of the docket text

    • Click Next to complete the filing

     


The Notice of Electronic Filing will display.  It is the verification that the filing has been sent electronically to the court.

Copies of this notice and the document filed are emailed to all participants who receive electronic notification in the case.  You have a period of 15 days for a one time free look at the document filed
